How stop motion animation began

Vox traces stop motion's earliest breakthrough to Wladyslaw Starewicz, who mounted dead beetles as puppets in his 1912 film The Cameraman's Revenge after growing frustrated filming live insects. The video positions this improvised discovery as the root from which later stop-motion styles, including puppet and object animation, grew.
