How it was made

Hitchcock and director Graham Cutts rushed the film into production specifically to make use of actress Betty Compson, who had appeared in their earlier hit Woman to Woman, before she returned to the United States.
The film was shot at the Balcon, Freedman and Saville studio in Hoxton, London; producer Michael Balcon later admitted the production went ahead with no advance preparation, calling it as big a flop as Woman to Woman had been a success.
