How it was made
- Bong Joon-ho visited a Colorado slaughterhouse to research the film's slaughterhouse sequence, an experience that turned both him and producer Dooho Choi into temporary vegans.
- Cinematographer Darius Khondji joined the production in February 2016, and principal photography began in Seoul before moving to Vancouver in July of that year.
- Bong brought in Welsh author Jon Ronson to help develop the film's English-speaking characters from a rough draft of the script.
