Gone Girl is a 2014 American psychological thriller film directed by David Fincher and written by Gillian Flynn, based on her 2012 novel. It stars Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, and Carrie Coon in her film debut. Affleck plays Nick Dunne, a writing teacher who becomes the prime suspect following the disappearance of his wife, Amy (Pike), in Missouri.

How it was made

Novelist Gillian Flynn adapted her own book for the screen, sending Fincher 'big swaths' of writing that the two discussed by phone; some scenes were rewritten a dozen times over the course of the collaboration.
Fincher averaged around 50 takes per scene during the five-week Missouri shoot, and rejected a version of the blood-collection scene that Flynn had written because he found it unbelievable.
A door used in an interior scene could not be replicated for the Los Angeles pickup shoot, so the original door was shipped from the Cape Girardeau, Missouri location instead.
Costume designer Trish Summerville gave Amy a Rose Gold Cartier Love bracelet and a floating-'A' necklace to signal she was still clinging to keepsakes from a wealthier past, and shifted her palette to more muted colours and jeans once the story moves the couple to Missouri.
