How it was made

Production designer Arthur Max's team built a large physical set recreating ancient Jerusalem, with the shoot based largely in Ouarzazate, Morocco, and at several Spanish locations including Loarre Castle and Seville's Alcázar.
Visual effects house Moving Picture Company completed 440 effects shots for the film, with Double Negative and Framestore CFC contributing additional CGI work.
Composer Harry Gregson-Williams's score was supplemented with tracks pulled from other films, including Jerry Goldsmith's 'Valhalla' theme from The 13th Warrior and 'Vide Cor Meum,' originally written for Scott's Hannibal.
