How it was made
- Villeneuve shot the film in black and white specifically to keep blood off the screen.
- Although École Polytechnique de Montréal offered the production the right to film on the actual campus, Villeneuve chose not to shoot there out of respect for the victims, using Cégep de Maisonneuve and Collège Ahuntsic as substitute locations instead.
- The production shot two complete parallel versions of the film, one in English and one in French, so it could reach both the Canadian and American markets.
