How it was made
- Cinematographer Michael Bauman shot 75 to 80 percent of the film on VistaVision, an eight-perf horizontal 35mm format from the 1950s that doubles the negative area of a standard four-perf frame.
- About 1.5 million feet of film ran through the production's VistaVision cameras, a quantity Bauman said the format had not handled at that scale in decades.
- Actor and cinematographer Giovanni Ribisi is thanked in the film's end credits for lending the production VistaVision cameras that he had personally restored.
- Editor Andy Jurgensen cut the climactic car chase without storyboards, working from a string-out of footage shot from different camera perspectives supplied by stunt coordinator Allan Padelford's Padelford Camera Car.
- A homeless encampment in Sacramento was cleared to allow filming at the Sacramento County Administration Building, and the former Sacramento mansion of Governor Ronald Reagan was used for exterior shots of the Christmas Adventurers Club headquarters.
