How it was made
- Daniel Day-Lewis spent a year learning dressmaking from Marc Happel to prepare for the role, gaining enough skill to recreate an original Balenciaga dress.
- Anderson served as his own uncredited cinematographer on the film; gaffer Michael Bauman, credited instead as 'lighting cameraman,' worked with him on the look.
- Anderson and Bauman pushed their 35mm stock and filled frames with 'theatrical haze' specifically to avoid the polished, clean look of prestige period television like The Crown.
- The New Year's Eve party sequence was filmed at the Blackpool Tower ballroom with around 500 supporting artistes.
- Composer Jonny Greenwood's score covers nearly ninety minutes of the film's 130-minute runtime.
- Day-Lewis remained in character throughout the shoot, and with cast and crew living together at 3 Fitzroy Square, described the experience as feeling like living in 'a termite nest.'
