Punch-Drunk Love is a 2002 American absurdist romantic comedy drama film, produced, written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. Adam Sandler stars as an entrepreneur with social anxiety who falls in love with his sister's co-worker, played by Emily Watson. The supporting cast includes Philip Seymour Hoffman and Luis Guzmán.

How it was made
- Anderson scrapped the first two weeks of footage after deciding the film looked too much like his earlier work, contributing to a shoot and edit that stretched over a year and a half.
- Composer Jon Brion scored the film while it was still shooting rather than cutting music to a finished edit, experimenting with tones on set and noting which ones Anderson responded to; Anderson then used Brion's vocal tempos to help set the pacing of Adam Sandler's performance.
- Visual artist Jeremy Blake was brought in to create the abstract colour-field sequences used as scene transitions throughout the film.
- The scene of Barry playing a battered harmonium was drawn from Brion's own experience patching a hole in one of his instrument's bellows with duct tape while on tour.
