How it was made
- Filming began on 14 February 2020 in Dordogne, France, and continued at the medieval castle of Berze-le-Chatel in Burgundy with a crew of 300 people, including 100 extras.
- Additional scenes were shot at the eleventh-century Cistercian Abbaye de Fontfroide in Narbonne, France.
- Production was scheduled to move to Ireland in late March 2020 for locations including Bective Abbey and Cahir Castle, but Disney halted the shoot indefinitely on 13 March because of COVID-19 travel restrictions; filming resumed there in late September and wrapped on 14 October 2020.
- Dr. Lorris Chevalier, at the time a PhD student and curator at Berze castle, served as the film's historical advisor.
- Composer Harry Gregson-Williams combined the British a cappella group Voces8 with medieval and contemporary instrumentation to musically distinguish the film's three central characters and the events leading to the duel.
