How it was made

Lee fought Disney's wish to cut Monty's extended monologue ranting against the five boroughs of New York, persisting until he was able to film and keep the scene.
The film was in its planning stages during the September 11 attacks, and Lee chose to integrate the event into the story rather than ignore it.
Terence Blanchard composed the film's original score.
