How it was made
- Most of the film was shot on Mini DV with a Sony VX1000 camera and later converted to film format, a choice that held the budget to $10 million and let Lee run multiple cameras at once to capture masters, two-shots and close-ups simultaneously to save time.
- The Mantan: New Millennium Minstrel Show sequences and their fake commercials, shown within the film, were shot on Super 16 film stock to visually separate them from the surrounding digital-video footage.
