How it was made
- Minority Report was the first film with an entirely digital 'previz' production design: the crew built simulated sets in Photoshop and 3D programs Maya and XSI, populated them with digital actors to plan shots, and let the video-game and visual-effects teams pull data from the system before the film was even finished.
- Production designer Alex McDowell kept an 80-page 'bible' cataloguing the architecture, politics and technology of the film's 2054 setting, developed with a three-day think tank of futurists Spielberg convened in Santa Monica in 1999.
- John Underkoffler, the film's science and technology advisor, designed most of Anderton's gestural data interface after Spielberg told him to make it feel 'like conducting an orchestra'; production designer Alex McDowell later worked with architect Greg Lynn on the technical design of the 3-D screens seen in the film.
